Het Vijfde Seizoen

Sayaka Abe & Nina Glockner now in Het Vijfde Seizoen

Sayaka Abe is interested in the marginality of the 'human condition' in our society. Her work comes from observation and personal interviews with people whom she encounters and seeks out in unusual situations. Abe wants to give a voice to 'the Unheard'. She uses her collected stories as a metaphor in her drawings, text works and audio and video work.

Sayaka Abe studied at the Tama Art University in Japan and at Gerrit Rietveld Academy. To study for an Master degree at the Sandberg Institute, she received a scholarship from the Foundation for Cultural Affairs of Japan. She participated in several residencies and was co-organizer of art projects such as Kamiyama Air (Japan), Uchinokoto project (3331 Tokyo and Amsterdam CBK) and the Cultural Embassy of the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam. Sayaka Abe lives in Amsterdam. http://sayaka.nl

"Choreography of Others" is the title of the project on which Nina Glockner will be working until late September. She examines the relationship between psychological and physical expression and develops a script in this context which is based on meetings with the patients of Altrecht. She is working on a fitness trail consisting of various sculptural elements which will be used by the patients of the institution where possible.

Nina Glockner studied philosophy in Berlin, art in Groningen and Istanbul and received her MFA at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. Her work has been shown at festivals and exhibitions in the Netherlands, Japan, Germany and Brazil. She is a visiting lecturer at art academies in Ghent, Amsterdam and Zurich and is currently working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Media Theory at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. http://www.ninaglockner.de
