Het Vijfde Seizoen

HET VIJFDE SEIZOEN WINS THE ELISABETH VAN THURINGEN REWARD

"The jury wants to recognise Het Vijfde Seizoen for the vigour, stamina and inventiveness with which it manages to win the commitment of the most exceptional artists in the Netherlands and challenge them, in order to interweave thorny and sensitive subjects in life and work. Above all we want to commend Het Vijfde Seizoen for the ability to reinvent itself and thereby constantly reinventing the relationship between art and care, day by day and year by year. This is not an occasional task; it is a deep conviction that is repeatedly put into practice in different guises," said Ann Demeester, director Frans Hals museum / De Hallen Haarlem and jury chairman.

The Elisabeth of Thüringen Price is for "Art that promotes the well-being of patients, staff and visitors. Not tied to a specific medium, but an inspiration for the environment."

A shared second prize went to St.Joseph's Health Centre (One Architecture & Berend Strik) of the Deventer Hospital and the project ''Binnezee'' (Maria Barnas) in mental health inGeest in Hoofddorp.

The jury for the Elisabeth Thüringen Price consisted of:

Jan Debbaut (art historian, independent curator and former museum director), Ann Demeester, chairman, (director Frans Hals Museum / De Hallen), Albert Groot, (psychiatrist), Sabrina Kamstra (Head of Art Department AMC), Ruud Lapré (Emeritus Professor of Health Policy and Economics Erasmus University Rotterdam) and Marieke Sanders (various managerial positions, including chairman of Reproduction Rights Foundation with the Wertheimer Foundation and Cobra Art Prize Amstelveen).
