Annaleen Louwes to Kings County Hospital in NY

Last year Het Vijfde Seizoen started an exchange program with New York. During the summer of 2013 two artists from New York, Rebecca Chanberlain and Guy RIchards, were guests at Het Vijfde Seizoen. After a succesful period of work, Het Vijfde Seizoen decided to continue with the exchange program. Anna Louwes, who worked at Het Vijfde Seizoen in 2013, was asked to reside for a work periode at the psychiatric institution Kinds County Hospital in Brooklyn.

For the purpose of internationalization, Het Vijfde Seizoen sought the collaboration with Beautiful Distress, Office for the Emancipation of the Madness. The Beautiful Distress foundation aims to improve the position of psyciahtry through exposing it in an onorthodox way with the help of art, exhibitions, lectures and capaigns. The founders are Wilco Tuinebreijer, psychiater and medical practitioner at GGD Amsterdam and Bram Claassen, former Head of Brand Image of Viktor & Rolf.
