Winter Residency: Students AKV St. Joost

The Fifth Season's curator Esther Vossen has given them a tour of the terrain of the mental health institute and helped them feel at home during the next three months in the residency. The artists are researching how psychiatry can influence their work. To be able to do this, they are working together with the staff and patients of the institute. They will present their work at the end of March.

Teacher of the group is George Korsmit, who did a residency in The Fifth Season with his partner Saskia Janssen in 2013.

Since 2014, The Fifth Season has made it a tradition to invite different art academies each year to say in the residency. This way, beginning artists get the opportunity to research what role art can play in a social context and how specific surroundings can stimulate and enrich this research and the making of new works of art.

Art academies that The Fifth Season has previously invited are: Sandberg Institute (Cure Master with Martijn Engelbregt), ArtEZ with Lado Darakhvelidze, Gerrit Rietveld Academie with Vincent Zedelius and Hanne Hagenaars and the HKU with Frank Koolen and Anno Dijkstra.
