Laurence Aegerter

Laurence Aërgerter researches strategies to give existing images new meaning and urgency. Cross-diciplinarity is an important part of this research. Aërgerter is triggered by stystems and structures, in which she sees the desire to gain control over situations. In her work, she shows the possibility for every individual to influence one's perception of the world.

Laurence Aëgerter was born in 1972 in Marseille. She is a French artist who lives in both Amsterdam and Marseille. She works with photography, artist books and projects in public space. In her artistic research Aëgerter often uses existing images or text material, creating alternatives of historical and contemporary cultural products.

Aërgerter's work has been exhibited in amongst others Hermitage Amsterdam, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and MAMAC in Nice, France. She has also developed a project for Museum Dolhuys.
