Het Vijfde Seizoen

Tamara Kuselman

Summer 2019

Starting from 1 July, Tamara Kuselman will be The Fifth Season’s resident. Her project questions the past and present of people dealing with alternative therapeutic and community practices.

The inhabitants of Altrecht belong to a community that they most probably never decided to be part of. This puts them in a position in which their desires don’t seem to have space to (ever) become reality. Kuselman’s project allows marginalised people to have a voice in relation to desire, independent of their condition. In her residency, Kuselman interviews some of the patients, aiming to open up conversations about their ideal living conditions or situations. Based on the patients’ stories, a choreography with a hip hop soundtrack will be recorded in the dunes of Soestduinen. The project is an audiovisual essay, an in-between documentary, historical research and performative fiction.

Tamara Kuselman (Argentina, 1980) gained her Master of Fine Arts at the Sandberg Institute after her graduation in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. Recently, she finished a one year residency at Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht (NL) and a thematic residency “Performance as Process” at Delfina Foundation, London (UK).  For more information please visit http://www.tamarakuselman.com

Kuselman’s project will be presented in the exhibition venue of Het Vijfde Seizoen and the Beautiful Distress House at the NDSM-wharf in Amsterdam in 2020. Curation and theoretical advise: Alfredo Aracil.

This residency is supported by: Stichting Stokroos, Fentener van Vlissingen Fonds and Fonds Kuadraat
