The Fifth Season to Japan

After the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami the movement of socially engaged art is more currant than ever. Het Vijfde Seizoen was invited by the Art&Society Research Center in Tokyo for the international exhibition "Social Engaged Art: A New Wave of Art for Social Change'. Works of former residents Frank Koolen (2012), Annaleen Louwes (2003), Marieke Zwart (2016) and Sayaka Abe (2015) were showed. Esther Vossen, Director / Curator of Het Vijfde Seizoen, gave a lecture on the residency and participated in a forum.The exhibition took place in Tokyo and runned from February 18th until March 5th. Other artists were Pedro Reyes, Ai WeiWei, Suzanne Lacey and Project Row Houses. The exhibition was made in collaboration with the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo.
