INFORMATION:

●  Het Vijfde Seizoen is an artist residency located at one of the oldest mental health institutes in The Netherlands in Den Dolder (Utrecht). The residency runs an exhibition space together with Beautiful Distress Foundation @ NDSM wharf in  Amsterdam
●  In 2017 the residency started a Summer School for young artists. Former residents of The Fifth Season Marieke Zwart, Dirk van Lieshout and curator-director Esther Vossen organise the summer school to challenge a new generation of artists to collaborate and work within the field of psychiatry
●  Starting point of this year’s edition is the subject of privacy and the future of mental health. We use the year 2050 as a point of focus to develop speculative artistic proposals for our future.<!--[if !supportLists]-->

The following topics will be discussed:

● What is the relation between autonomy, care and control?
● Which taboos do we deal with, now and in the future.
● How do we collaborate and position ourselves within the field of care and mental health.
● What is the role of technology in the future in relation to these questions

During eight days you will be inspired by these and other questions in a programme of excursions, lectures by guest teachers, assignments and debate. Last years guest were a.o. the  artists / curators: Roy Villevoye, Maria Barnas, Anke Bangma, Trudy Dehue, Saskia Janssen & The Rainbow Soulclub, Annet Dekker, Aniek Fournier and psychiatrist Wilco Tuinebreijer.
The process and results will be on show at Beautiful Distress House in Amsterdam from 29 August  - 15 September. CThe costs for the Summer Shool and the exhibition at NDSM-wharf are 375,- euro.
The Summer School is organized by Het Vijfde Seizoen, residency in psychiatry.
